🚌 See a school bus? Slow down and be prepared to stop.

Iowa Code §321.372 requires motorists meeting a school bus with flashing amber warning lights to slow to no more than 20 mph and come to a complete stop when the bus stops and its stop arm is extended.

Motorists overtaking a school bus may not pass when its red OR amber warning lights are flashing. When the bus is stopped with its stop arm extended, motorists must stop at least 15 feet from the bus and remain stopped until the stop arm is retracted and the bus resumes motion. 🛑

🚌 ¿Ve un autobús escolar? Reduzca la velocidad y prepárese para detenerse.

El Código de Iowa §321.372 requiere que los conductores que se encuentren con un autobús escolar con luces amarillas intermitentes de advertencia reduzcan la velocidad a no más de 20 mph y se detengan por completo cuando el autobús se detenga y extienda su señal de alto.

Families can help by establishing consistent morning and bedtime routines, planning ahead for transportation, scheduling non-urgent appointments outside of school hours when possible, and keeping track of absences.

JH volleyball practice will begin Monday, August 24 at 3:30 p.m. in the HS practice gym. Players will need a current physical and signed concussion form.

The first day of school is just two weeks away, which means now is a great time to start easing back into those school-year routines! 📚✏️

A little preparation now can make those first mornings back so much easier for the whole family. Over the next two weeks, try gradually bringing back a few school-day habits:
⏰ Start waking up a little earlier each morning
😴 Move bedtime closer to your school-night schedule
🎒 Practice getting backpacks and clothes ready the night before
📵 Begin winding down screens earlier in the evening
🚿 Bring back your regular morning routine
🚗 Talk through transportation, drop-off, or bus plans
💙 Most importantly, start getting EXCITED!
